AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): On the anniversary of the demise of the Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini (r.a.), Ayatollah Reza Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly delivered a speech at an academic seminar held at the regional office of Al-Mustafa (p.b.u.h) International University in Senegal. The session, titled “The Hermeneutical Method of Imam Khomeini (r.a.),” brought together professors and students to explore the late Imam’s interpretative approach to the Quran.
In his remarks, the Secretary-General outlined various interpretive methodologies and classified their different schools, describing Imam Khomeini’s exegetical approach as comprehensive and wide-ranging. He emphasized that the full breadth of this methodology could be discerned through the Imam’s interpretation of Surah al-Fatiha.
Ayatollah Ramazani noted that Imam Khomeini (r.a.) was primarily inclined toward mystical and philosophical interpretations, highlighting his emphasis on the Divine Name as the central focus of all creation. This, he explained, reflected a profound mystical lens through which the Imam engaged with the Quranic verses.
Elsewhere in his address, Ayatollah Ramazani briefly reflected on the life and scholarly path of the late Imam, asserting that the Holy Quran and the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) formed the core of Imam Khomeini’s movement and the establishment of an Islamic government under his leadership in Iran. He underscored that this foundation remains clearly manifest in the leadership of the Islamic Republic and continues to inspire Muslim nations around the world.
The senior cleric and academic also offered guidance to educators and seekers of knowledge, citing the prophetic narration: “Whoever learns for the sake of God, acts for the sake of God, and teaches for the sake of God shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.” He regarded sincerity and devotion in one’s pursuit of knowledge as the highest form of success, naming Imam Khomeini (r.a.) as a distinguished embodiment of this tradition in the modern era.At the conclusion of the seminar, Hossein Asadi, Director of the regional office of Al-Mustafa (p.b.u.h) International University in Senegal, expressed his gratitude for the presence and scholarly address of Ayatollah Ramazani, Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly. He also extended his thanks to the accompanying delegation and all attendees, including professors, alumni, and students. As a token of appreciation, he presented Ayatollah Ramazani with a printed edition of Imam Khomeini’s mystical exegesis on Surah al-Fatiha, published by the Senegal office, along with a commemorative plaque.
The event concluded with congregational noon and afternoon prayers led by the Secretary-General of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly.
